Harrowed Halls: Hell's Thistle Collector's Edition is rated 4.0 out of 5 by 35.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Game! Must Try It! It seems that most of the games these days might have some really nice Hidden Object Puzzles (HOPs) and other puzzles, but the story is quite bland, following either a well-worn formula or just not developed enough. Not this game though! The cut scene even before you enter a profile name is quite gripping, and the story gets only more intense as you go along. I had actually thought at one point that maybe the developers revealed too much, too soon. As it turned out, however, there was more to come! Yes, the plot thickened, as they say... :D The graphics are great, and the music is most haunting - perfect for the storyline. The HOPs and puzzles are quite easy and fun at the same time. There are only two "side quests," so to speak - the Morphing Objects and Coins. But, unlike many games in which you collect these "extras" only for some achievement, this game gives you a whole lot more for your effort! As for the Morphing Objects, each one is actually a puzzle piece. You can go in the Bonus Menu at any time during the game, open the Morphing Objects tab, and see how many pieces you have collected. You will find that there are six jigsaw pictures that you can put together with the pieces you collect; and, no, there are no tricks - only the pieces required to complete a given picture will be found on that particular page. So you don't have to take the pieces from picture to picture to see where each fits! As for the Coins, they are easy enough to spot. What's more, as far as I noticed, a close-up does not disappear until you have picked up the coin in it! So you should not have any problem collecting these coins. Then, whenever you are ready, just go to the Bonus Menu again, open the Collections tab, and you will see six different games in a room. Yes, you use your coins to purchase these games. You can then play the game you purchased, and win an item. You will use the close-up icon on the cabinet in upper-right to see what you won. You get the Achievement only after you have won all six games. In short, this game is just filled with fun. I should note, however, that I did not care that much about the Bonus Game. Something that was undoubtedly resolved (or certainly seemed to be) in the main game, resurfaces in the Bonus Game, and without any explanation as to why it does so. [You will see what I mean when you play the game.] It was almost as if the Developers felt obliged to provide a Bonus Game because this *was* a Collector's Edition, after all. They still gave it a good shot, however, and they do provide some important background information to the main story. And, of course, there are more fun HOPs and puzzles. So do be sure to play the Bonus Game as well. Well, that's all I can think of right now. Hope that my review has been helpful, and that you will enjoy the game as much as I did. :)

Rated 5 out of 5 by from FAMILY FEUD REVIEW OF COMPLETED GAME AND BONUS This is a very enjoyable game with plenty to do in each scene. There is: * Voiceovers (with dialogue); * Casual, Advance, Hard and Custom modes of play; * Interactive map; * 17 Achievements; * Notebook; * Collections; * Find 72 morphs in game and bonus (puzzle pieces). The graphics are not bad but it is very dark in most scenes. However, it is an old house with lots of ghosts and creepy sounds to keep you company, so I suppose it has to be dark to add that ambiance to the game. Sound is good and the music is orchestral and piano. The hidden object games are mainly interactive straightforward which you will do twice. These are easy to do and each one only takes a couple of minutes. Items are clear to see. There are a huge range of mini-games and I enjoyed them all. These ranged from easy to medium. There are a few of my favourite ones in there as well. None are too hard or boring and I'm sure you will be able to conquer them all without any problem. As you go through the game and bonus, you will collect coins. When you have enough coins then go to Collections and play some extra mini-games. These are fun to do. There are 72 morphs (puzzle pieces) to find throughout the game and bonus. In some scenes these were actually hard to spot. There are 6 puzzles in total which you can complete any time you like. I did these are I went through the game. You also have a cellphone with apps to help you. This does not hinder the game in any way and it was fun using it. All up the game and bonus took me about 5 hours to play. I took my time as there was lots to do and it wasn't always obvious what to do next. I enjoyed that. Overall, a fabulous game and well worth putting in your collection. Happy playing fishies.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from My new favourite game! This is one of the best games I've played in a long time! I enjoyed the storyline & the different styles of HOG's. There are lots of puzzles and the gameplay is quite long (not including the bonus chapter). I really liked the extra puzzles at the end of the bonus chapter (you buy them using the collected coins from the game). I'm ready to play again!!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Good creep factor! The creepier, the better. Other reviewers have done a banner job on the gameplay so I won't go there. What I will add, is that this game had good creep value. Not out of the ballpark, but good nonetheless. It also offered a lot of rooms to explore, another favorite characteristic of mine.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from ~~YOU'LL NEED MORE THAN GARDENING SHEARS TO CONQUER HEII'S THISTLE!~~ Once in a full moon an outstanding Murder Mystery is offered on Big Fish. Daily Magic has delivered the second chapter in the Harrowed Halls scary hidden object series. Another installment of the new series which is truly outstanding that provides casual gamers with a perplexing suspense thriller that fans of the genre will definitely want to add to their collection. It begins in 1980 when Dana and Rick (brother and sister) are kids playing with a soccer ball that gets thrown into the old abandoned Wantley family house on 23 Maple Street in Portland Orgegon. Little do they know about the secrets hidden within the rooms of the Harrowed Halls...but Rick is about to find out and SOON. Fast forward to 1991 when Rick receives a cell phone call from his niece May informing him that his sister Dana is in the hospital suffering from a mysterious illness. The same illness which claimed the life of Dana and Rick's mother. When you arrive at the hospital Dana regains consciousness briefly from her coma to tell you that "Blood is calling" from the old Wantley Family estate. Your only clue is her mumbling about the abandoned estate that you explored as children. With Dana incapacitated it's clear that Rick (being the other half of the equation) must investigate what's happening at the Wantley estate for the sake of his sister and for his own closure on this childhood trauma. When you arrive at Whantley house you learn immediately that the entire Whantley family was murdered! But WHY? Clues about the murders eventually come to light as you make your way thru the horrific rooms of Harrowed Halls. Clues that can save your sister. Rated 5 out of 5 by from very long excellent game This is a very long game and has an excellent storyline. No demons which is fabulous, excellent puzzles and HOPS. No voiceovers, or hardly any, so we dont have to worry about them. I am thoroughly enjoying myself and I recommend you all to try it out.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from NIce Mystery Full marks for the best mystery game of the year. All of the usual disclaimers - this one will be too easy for some, too difficult for others, and for me it found the just-right zone. Pros: the writing, mentioned separately below. Great graphics, great voice acting, atmospheric music, and a jump-scare or two. The puzzles are plentiful, some quite challenging. I regret inadvertently playing the last one on Casual because it deserved better. Male POV for a welcome change. Nice bonus game with an interesting ending. Cons: the plot is very dark, not suitable for children. Writing: yes, a real mystery! The plot is properly convoluted and the player may wish to keep notes on relationships, because it's one slow reveal after another as the overall plot becomes apparent. Only at the last is the player character's real involvement in the story revealed. Very, very well done. Some may find the game too easy, some too hard, but for me it was the best mystery game of the year so far.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Twin Ghosts, Poisoned Thistles, Insanity, and Just Plain Creepy I liked this Collector's Edition first off because I got to be Rick. So many games make you a girl at the beginning. From there on it's twists and turns, physical and psychological, heart braking and heartwarming. I wish it hadn't ended so abruptly....
